Can I do a trial class?

Toddlers and preschoolers, between the ages of 2 and 5, may be peaking with stranger awareness and feel a little insecure coming into a new environment, which is a very normal process of child development.  The purpose of the Kindy Dance Time dance classes is to gently introduce children to the world of dance, and our teachers are trained to nurture and develop each child’s love of dance.  The process of settling into the new environment for this tender age can take some children a few weeks.  Therefore we believe one trial class is unlikely to show your child’s full potential.  You are, however, most welcome to come along and watch a class in action.  This does not need to be booked in and you may simply turn up to class at your convenience and let the teacher know that you have come to watch – she’ll make you feel very welcome!  We ask you to please also bear in mind that class places are limited and many of our classes are full before the commencement of each term.  If you are unsure as to whether your child is ready for Kindy Dance Time, please contact us on 1300 922 892.

The term has already started. Can my child still join?

The Kindy Dance Time programme is structured so that we can accept enrolments at anytime throughout the term, provided there are class places available.   Our experience is that children generally slip easily into the class with a minimum of fuss.  Our term fees are pro-rata and our website automatically updates term fees as the term progresses, which means that you can enrol online, knowing that you will be charged only for the classes remaining in the term.

Can I bring younger siblings?

Yes, all siblings are welcome at Kindy Dance Time®.  If a younger sibling is a toddler but not yet 2 years of age, they are welcome to observe and, at the teacher’s discretion, they may be invited to join in some of the group dances of the Kindy Dance Time® programme.  Younger babies generally love to watch from their prams!

What should my child wear?

Dress your child in comfortable clothing with bare feet.  Kindy Dance Time® has an optional uniform consisting of some very funky cotton-lycra hipster flares for girls and shorts for boys, and a Kindy Dance Time® T-Shirt.   Visit our online Kindy Dance Time shop to view these, as well as our other dancewear and accessories available for purchase.  And “dress ups” are always welcome!

Do I need to participate?

In the younger age groups, parent participation is necessary.  This gives you the opportunity to enjoy unique time with your child — a special bonding experience.  As your child grows older, they will do more on their own, but parents are welcome to observe all classes at Kindy Dance Time®.

Do many boys do Kindy Dance Time®?

Absolutely!  Kindy Dance Time® is specifically designed for both boys and girls, toddlers and preschoolers between the ages of 2 and 5 years. The themes and activities are non-specific in terms of gender and the programme is tailored to suit the needs of all children.

What should I bring?

Please bring a named water bottle for your child. In accordance with ‘Safe Dance Practice’, food is not permitted in the studio during dance classes. Instruments and props are provided by Kindy Dance Time®.

I am a parent to twins … is Kindy Dance Time suitable for us?

Absolutely!  However, it is important to note that in the younger age groups, parent participation is necessary.  Sometimes parents of twins can find this a little more difficult as many of our dances involve one on one participation. However, having said that, usually there is a more confident twin out of the pair and our gorgeous teachers are happy to help and work with one of your children if the need arises.
